Student Ticket Program
All patrons, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket to enter the theatre. This includes infants and children that may normally sit on the lap of a parent. Classical performances are not recommended for children under the age of 5 years.
Music education has been a core mission of the MSO from the very beginning and the orchestra has no stronger advocate for building upon and strengthening that mission than its Music Director Elizabeth Schulze. “It is essential that all of our young people have access to the very best in our culture. This is an opportunity to open doors not only to new ideas and sound worlds, but more importantly, to future educated and enlighten citizenry,” states Schulze.
K-12 Students & Children
For classical music performances, students* can attend these select performances either free or at deeply discounted rates. Student tickets are discounted 50% for seating in our “premium” sections of the theatre, and complimentary tickets are available in all other sections. Notably, nearly 75% of the seats in the Maryland Theatre are part of the FREE student ticket program.
These tickets may be reserved in advance through the Maryland Symphony Orchestra ticketing website (choose the appropriate “K-12 Student” option) OR by calling the Symphony Box Office directly at (301) 797-4000. Tickets are also available at the Maryland Theatre Box Office starting 1 hour prior to each performance.
For all other performances, student and child rates may or may not be available, depending upon the production. If discounted child rates are available, they will be visible on the Maryland Symphony Orchestra ticketing website OR you can call the Symphony Box Office at (301) 797-4000 to ask a member of our staff. Generally, there are no additional student or child discounts for Home for the Holidays, MSO Pops!, and licensed film with orchestra presentations.
