American pianist
Thomas Pandolfi is emerging as a prodigious virtuoso who
excels in reviving the core repertoire from the golden age
of pianism. Praised
for his interesting and innovative programming, his recitals
regularly include works by Busoni, Godowsky, Dohnanyi and Chasins,
and his orchestral appearances often feature concerti by Paderewski,
MacDowell, Moszkowski and Anton Rubinstein.
The young pianist’s career has already
included performances with such European orchestras as The
George Enescu Philharmonic, The Moravian Philharmonic, The
National Philharmonic of the Republic of Moldova, The Tiraspol
Philharmonic, The Galati Philharmonic, as well as the American
symphony orchestras of Mississippi, Cedar Rapids, Asheville,
Princeton, San Angelo, York, Fairfax and Owensboro.
During the 2007-2008 season, Pandolfi enjoyed
growing popularity and acclaim in Eastern Europe, appearing
both as a recitalist and as concerto soloist. In the United States, his concerts
took him to New York, Washington, Virginia, Florida and California. This
past season also marked the release of two new CDs: “Into
the Night with Gershwin,” and “Polish Masters,” featuring
Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Paderewski’s brilliant,
but rarely performed Piano Concerto in performances recorded
in the Czech Republic with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Highlights of the 2008-2009 season included his recital
debuts in Germany and Canada, a tour of China, his debut with
the Aberystwyth Symphony in Wales, performing the Albeniz Piano
Concerto No. 1, and two return tours throughout Eastern Europe. In
the United States, audiences enjoyed his artistry in California,
Oregon, Texas, Illinois, Missouri, South Carolina, New York,
New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Connecticut, Florida,
Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland and Wisconsin.
During 2009-2010, Pandolfi will give the
world premiere of British composer Simon Proctor’s dazzling and unique “James
Bond” Piano Concerto in London. He will also perform
this work with Symphonicity (The Symphony Orchestra of Virginia
Beach) in the USA, along with the “Warsaw Concerto,” and
make guest solo appearances with The Maryland Symphony, The
Great Falls Symphony, The Allegro Chamber Orchestra and The
George Enescu Philharmonic in Bucharest.
A graduate of The Juilliard School, Pandolfi
earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees as
a scholarship student. |
